vegans + stick drawings = favorite blog ever. consider yourself followed.
Mmmm! You had me at "melt half a cup of peanut butter." The drawings are too funny, I love this blog :)
I actually had all the ingredients for this, so I made it while my coffee was brewing and YUM! It is soooo good!
Hi. Looks wonderful. What size pan do you use? An 8 or 9 inch square? 9x13? Thanks.
It just depends on how thick you want the granola layer to be. We've used all sorts of pan sizes.
Are they chewy or crunchy?
They are chewy. If you prefer crunchy use less applesauce or agave, add a handful or two of more oats, or try using a baking sheet and bake for slightly longer.
I made these a couple days ago and this is by far the best granola recipe that I have come across!!! I used a 9x13 pan and the overall thickness looked similar to the typical ones you find at the grocery store. I also used the Whole Foods brand Fruit and Nut Trail Mix (completely vegan!) which worked out great but now I am inspired to mix and match flavors for a bit of variety ;) The recipe was too simple to be true and it definitely delivered...Thank you for posting such a tasty recipe :)
This Blog is Beautiful! I love to read your posts! Thank you!
This is the cutest post EVER! Wait, the others are cute too! Damn, I'm in love.
Wow. Best idea ever. I sort of love you guys.
i do not have a functional oven, so i was wondering if it was possible to make this on stovetop? thanks!
yum yum looks delicious! I've been searching for a good granola bar recipe and can't wait to try this one. This site is absolutely lovely, happy to have found it.
this blog owns. big fan. post more.
What would you suggest I use if I don't have agave sweetener? Would honey or maple syrup be a good substitute? I love your blog by the way. Keep it up!
Both can work, as vegans we would choose maple syrup over honey.
This site is great, I copy down recipes every time I visit. The dip in the bread bowl will be on our Easter table, thank you
Love your site ! When will the book be out?
Love, bookmarked and followed.
peanu butter isn't vegan....
My sister and I have been looking for a good granola bar recipe, we have made so many we can't even count and not one recipe will hold it's bar shape and still be healthy. With a doubtful attitude we made these and all we can say is THANKYOU!!!! Our quest for a granola bar that is tasty, healthy, and holds up in the lunch box is finally over.
Since when is peanut butter not vegan!!! Make or buy it yourself and it is nothing but straight peanuts (and maybe some agave for taste)!!! Last time I checked peanuts came from a plant, not an animal!!
can this be baked in a toaster oven?? would it change the time or temperature?? thanks for any tips.
Hi Autumn, Granola can be baked in a toaster oven. We would suggest preheating the oven and baking at the temperature and time listed. All toaster ovens vary a little in heating/tempertaure/cook times, so it would be best to cook for the listed time and then adjust it from there. If your toaster oven is known to burn quite often then take the heat down a little.
I was wondering if I don't have apple sauce can I substitute it with a mashed banana? I can't wait to try this recipe :)
Hi Azusa Ito,Using mashed banana in place of apple sauce should work fine. You may want to play around with different cook times and temperatures.Hope this helps.
